NSA Diversity in Intelligence event

           NSA Diversity in Intelligence event
·         Thursday, March 31, 3 pm to 8 pm.
·         (Van departs IST at 11 am and returns at 11 pm.)

This event fills up quickly.  Students need to apply early. 
We have set a deadline of February 22 for sign-ups.

Additionally,  we will provide a 10 passenger van to go to the event.  Students need to sign-up for this as well.

Competition launches on
February 9th at 7pm in IST 205.  
Teams will present to a PwC panel of judges on February 16th.

Dress is casual.

Teaming requirements
+ 4 or 5 members
+ 1st (freshman) and 2nd (sophomore) year students in a 4 year program, with at least one 1st year student on every team
+ All members must have the intent to apply, have applied, or are currently enrolled in the College of IST or Engineering

Security jobs for Students


The Office of Information Security is seeking to hire numerous Penn State students to fill wage payroll part-time positions. These positions are available now and could count for internship credit or for extra part-time experience.  Duties may include vulnerability scanning, threat detection and data loss prevention activities. Future Forum 2016

The IST Future forum will be held this Thursday, January 28, 2016,from
10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
 
Like the Pro Expo, this is an event where many companies and agencies come to IST to meet our students and hire them for jobs and internships.  If you do not already have a job be sure to polish your resume, wear your best clothes, get plenty of sleep, and be ready to professionally network.

IST Diplomats Leadership Academy


Applications are now open for the 2016-2017 IST Diplomats Leadership Academy class. We had a great fall semester with our most recent cohort of students and are excited to identify additional talented and enthusiastic students. As you know, this program enhances the current IST Diplomats outreach efforts by adding an academic component that focuses on developing vital leadership skills.

We are looking for students who are dynamic, charismatic, and meet the following criteria:

·         Are resident full-time undergraduate students in the College of Information Sciences and Technology, University Park campus.
·         Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
·         As of spring semester 2016, must be semester standing of  2,3,4,or 5.
·         Be highly motivated, enthusiastic, dependable, knowledgeable, and sincere in representing Penn State and the College of Information Sciences and Technology.
·         Be a University Park Student for at least one semester.
·         Be able to communicate clearly and articulately

FBI Internships


The 2016 FBI Internship application window is OPEN and closes November 24, 2015
 
The FBI has opened the call for applications for the 2016 Honors and Cyber Internship programs and launched a new application process. All intern candidates must go to www.fbijobs.gov, register and complete a profile, and then select their profile to be added to the Intern Talent Network by November 24, 2015.
 
After selecting the Intern Talent Network, intern candidates must attach their résumés and answer suitability questions. Candidates are strongly encouraged to review the instructions for navigating the Intern Talent Network (attached) before beginning the process. Only those candidates in the network by November 24 will be considered for the 2016 program.
 
All educational backgrounds will be considered for the internships. To qualify for the Honors or Cyber Internship Programs, candidates must:
 
·         Be a second-semester freshmen or above; candidates cannot have graduated before June 13, 2016;
·         Be available 40 hours per week from June 13, 2016 to August 19, 2016 (10 weeks); and
·         Have a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA.

Federal security clearance workshop

Former special agent, and Penn State graduate, Kevin Clark will hold a workshop on obtaining and keeping a Federal security clearance from 6-7:30 pm in room 208 IST on November 12.  This event is sponsored by the SRA Club but is open to all interested students, faculty and staff.

SIA Seminar: “Special Operation Forces, Cyber and the Gray-Zone fight” - Nov 12

US Army Colonel Patrick M. Duggan will present "Special Operation Forces, Cyber, and the Gray-Zone Fight" from 1:00 - 2:15 p.m. on  November 12th in 116 KatzDuggan has published several papers on cyber-enabled Special Operations and is the winner of the 2015 Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, National Defense and Military Strategy Writing Award. COL Duggan was selected for command of Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall-McNair in summer 2016 and is currently the SOF Fellow to the Strategic Land-power TF in the NCR.
